Our verdict
For a NACS car and a new hardwired circuit, this is the value pick: the New Ultimate 48A with a native NACS cable, so no adapter is involved. One installation manual covers both versions, so the install is identical: hardwired only, 48 A on a dedicated 60 A circuit, lower settings by an internal DIP switch, no plug, extension cord or adapter, and wiring by a licensed electrician.
The NACS connector has no latch button; you push it in to charge and pull it out to stop. The rest matches the J1772 model: a 25 ft cable, an aluminum UL Type 4 case rated from -22°F to 122°F, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with the Grizzl-E Connect app, and OCPP. Grizzl-E says its chargers are certified for Canada, and we track both its US and Canadian stores for this version.
The catch is paperwork: the J1772 model is on the EPA ENERGY STAR list, but this NACS model number isn’t, although Grizzl-E calls its chargers ENERGY STAR certified. Some utility rebates require an ENERGY STAR charger, so check the program’s rules before you buy. The warranty is three years, or five as an option.

Grizzl-E Ultimate 48A NACS questions
What breaker does the Grizzl-E Ultimate 48A NACS need?
A dedicated 60 A circuit for the full 48 A, the same as the J1772 model. The manual pairs 40, 32, 24 and 16 A with 50, 40, 30 and 20 A circuits, each on a double-pole breaker of the circuit rating, set by a DIP switch inside the front cover. It must be hardwired by a licensed electrician.
Is the Grizzl-E Ultimate 48A NACS sold in Canada?
Yes. Grizzl-E’s Canadian store lists the NACS model in black and white, and Grizzl-E says its Level 2 chargers are certified for Canada and the US to UL 2594 and CSA C22.2 No. 280:22; the label on the unit is the final word. Canadian rebate programs set their own rules, so check the program page before you buy.
