  • 5 years Warranty

Pros

  • Rated to run from -40°F to 122°F in a Type 4X aluminum enclosure
  • 6–50 A by rotary switch; hardwired or NEMA 14-50 plug-in versions
  • Hardwired units can share one breaker or daisy-chain, within FLO's 80% rule
  • Five-year residential limited warranty
  • Sold with a J1772 or a NACS connector on a 25 ft cable

Cons

  • We track no US store for it yet; FLO's own online store sells in Canada only
  • App setup needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; FLO says cellular may not be active yet
  • No automatic load management: shared circuits use fixed current splits
  • The plug-in version is set to 40 A; the full 50 A means hardwiring on a 70 A breaker
Best for
Cold-climate and Canadian homes that want a rugged outdoor charger, or two EVs sharing one circuit with fixed current limits.
Not for
Homes with a full panel that need automatic load management, or anyone hoping to install it without an electrician.

Our verdict

The X6 is our pick for hard winters. Its aluminum Type 4X case is rated to run from -40°F to 122°F, it carries a five-year residential warranty, and it is certified to both the US (UL 2594) and Canadian (CSA C22.2 No. 280) charger standards. It is also flexible: FLO sells it hardwired or with a NEMA 14-50 plug, with a J1772 or a NACS connector.

The circuit decides how much of it you use. Hardwired units ship at 48 A, which FLO’s install guide pairs with a 60 A breaker; the full 50 A needs a 70 A breaker, and the plug-in version is set to 40 A on a 50 A circuit. Installation and any change to the rotary switch are a licensed electrician’s job, and FLO’s warranty doesn’t cover units installed by anyone else. Two-EV homes can run several hardwired X6 units from one breaker of up to 60 A, as long as their settings add up to no more than 80% of it.

The catch is that this sharing is a fixed split, not automatic load management, so a panel near its limit needs another answer. The FLO app needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. So far we track the X6 only through Canadian stores, FLO’s own among them.

FLO Home X6 questions

Can the FLO Home X6 be installed outdoors?

Yes. Its Type 4X enclosure is made for indoor or outdoor use, resists rain, hose-directed water, windblown dust and corrosion, and operates from -40°F to 122°F. FLO’s guide recommends mounting the wall plate 39 to 45 inches above the floor, on a stud or solid wall, with 12 inches of clearance from other equipment.

What breaker does the FLO Home X6 need?

It depends on the current the electrician sets with the rotary switch. FLO's install guide pairs 48 A with a 60 A breaker and the full 50 A with a 70 A breaker; the plug-in version is set to 40 A on a 50 A circuit. Local code and a licensed electrician decide the final size.

Does the FLO Home X6 work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

No. It pairs with the FLO app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, so the router’s 2.4 GHz band must be on during setup. The charger joins one network at a time: if you change routers or networks, you go through onboarding in the app again. FLO lists cellular LTE-M too, but says it may not be active at purchase.

Can two FLO Home X6 chargers share one circuit?

Yes, per FLO's guide: hardwired units can share a breaker of up to 60 A through a junction box or a daisy chain, with each unit's current set so the total stays within 80% of the breaker. Plug-in units must not be daisy-chained.

Does installing the FLO Home X6 myself void the warranty?

Yes. FLO’s install guide says installation, removal and current changes must be done by a licensed electrician, and the warranty does not apply to units installed or removed by anyone else. Plan on an electrician, and a permit and inspection where your local authority requires one. The residential warranty runs five years, with separate US and Canadian terms.
